From the Owner, "I created Walker Wellness Retreats because I feel traveling changed my life for the better and I want to share the positive impact travel can have with the world. Travel makes the world not so large. It opens your mind to new ways of thinking. I have a masters degree and believe with all my heart I learned more as an international English teacher traveling the world than I ever did in a classroom. I created Walker Wellness Retreats because I have a lot of experience traveling. I have traveled to over 50 countries and have done all sorts of traveling...from backpacking and staying in hostels to budget large group travel to luxury five star resorts. I found out what I like and what I don’t like. My preferences may not be yours and that is okay! I don’t like the 50 passenger buses with the headsets and trying to keep up with the groups ( but this is an inexpensive way to see the world), I don’t like camping ( my recent retreat to Peru reminded me of this when I had a panic attack in the tent because it turns out I am legit claustrophobic), and I don’t like staying in hostels ( I stayed in one recently in Amsterdam to give my sister a taste of budget travel and sharing a room with 14 strangers cost the same as a nice hotel 5 miles away for some odd reason so I listened to someone snoring below me for nothing!)
With being a social worker as my full-time gig, I can’t necessarily afford five-star luxury vacations all the time. With Walker Wellness Retreats, I’m able to use my experience of traveling and finding deals to pick and plan incredible adventures with the goal of bringing like-minded travelers together to incredible places around the globe!"

Walker Wellness Retreats is really for people who want a more personalized and intimate travel experience. It’s for busy individuals who want their time off to be as relaxed and stress free as possible. It’s really for those who just want to show up and the planning is done for them. The trips are customized around you and your interest. I get to know you and know what you value. I do all the planning and searching to find the best value for your money. I research to find the best tour guides, the best food and the best locations. Walker Wellness Retreats strives to never have more than 12 people in a group in order to provide a small and cohesive group.
From the owner, "I’m a person who knows and loves travel with all their heart. I know what things cost and I don’t want anybody to be surprised when they are supposed to be relaxing and basking in beauty. When you go with another tour company, there are so many additional cost that you never know are going to be there. From food to drinks to tour gratuities to tipping your hotel staff… Travel is always more expensive than you ever think it’s going to be. With Walker Wellness Retreats, I know what travel costs and I plan accordingly so that you can come and rest assured that everything is taken care of. There’s no awkward dinners where everybody’s trying to split the check… (I have been there and it’s awkward). With us, you just show up and enjoy yourself!! That’s the point of vacation!"

Most of our guests are coming from around the United States and it is likely that traveling will require some level of health screening which may occur at airports, gate check-in, or arrival at your destination. While ideally such screening will give us a high degree of confidence that our arriving guests are COVID-free, we will be prepared if such (relative) clarity doesn’t exist in order to safeguard our guests and staff. Fast tests are becoming more available, and some airlines and travel destinations are beginning to perform testing before boarding or upon arrival. Our new operational protocols will include several preemptive cleanliness measures that affect the guest journey from arrival to departure, including additional health and well-being requirements across all points of contact in the retreat home.
· A Pre-travel questionnaire/assessment is being developed for all our guests to complete that will give Walker Wellness Retreats and our other guests added confidence in their health at the time of arrival.
· Operational Evaluation: We have completed an assessment of points of guest contact, resulting in the integration of hygiene practices across key points – starting from the moment guests arrive at the retreat home and through the entirety of their vacation experience.
· Cleaning, disinfection, and sanitation will be repeated multiple times daily, with a minimum of three inspections daily. These inspections and targeted cleaning steps include hard surfaces such as door handles and handrails and other high-touch surfaces. Yoga mats and materials will be thoroughly cleaned after each use.
· Additional hand sanitizing stations will be provided for guests and staff.
· The guest dining experience will be modified to limit contact points of normal buffet service. Guests will be asked to wash hands before meals.
· Social Distancing Practices will be encouraged so that guests maintain a safe social distance whenever possible, while sustaining the relaxed experience our retreats are known for. This will include spacing guests out as much as possible.
· Health Insurance is now a requirement for guests to have before departure on any Walker Wellness Retreat.
· COVID Waiver must be filled out by each guest prior to arrival, stating they are aware of the known risks of traveling during a global pandemic.
· Flexible rescheduling options are provided to guests who not feelings well or no longer feel comfortable with travel. We are happy to move you to a future Walker Wellness Retreat at no additional cost.
•Changes in safety protocol in Zion National Park. Zion Shuttle now required advanced reservations to ride the shuttle. Only 14 people are allowed on the shuttle at a time to provide social distancing. Face coverings must be worn while in the shuttle.
What will this all mean?
Flexibility is needed and appreciated as we all navigate these uncertain times together.
